Will Redskins Fire Bruce Allen? Owner Dan Snyder Mulls Front-Office Changes

The Washington Redskins, who sit at the bottom of the NFC East at 2-9, are faced with a difficult situation of a potential front office shake-up as the team struggles to perform to its expected ability. President Bruce Allen has been with the organization since 2009, but Redskins owner Dan Snyder is considering drastic changes to his team.

Allen, son of former coach George Allen, who led Washington to a Super Bowl win over the undefeated Miami Dolphins in 1972, is now facing scrutiny from Redskins fans, mostly on social media. During Allen’s time under Snyder, the Redskins have just three winning seasons and are on track to miss the playoffs for the fourth straight season.

The Redskins entered the 2019 season with a new position coach, a new high-priced safety in Landon Collins, one of the league’s highest-paid cornerbacks with Josh Norman, and a core group of relatively solid quarterbacks. But hopes have dwindled as a 2-9 record looms over them thus far. The defense has proven ineffective against opposing quarterbacks, allowing a 71.4 % pass completion rate against them. And as for those two high-priced players, neither has made a huge difference, proving to be rather disappointing for the struggling franchise.

Snyder has been prepared to change things around in the offseason, indicating his desire to make a run at Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin as his new head of football operations. It is safe to say that Allen and some of the front office should be concerned, unless the team can rally in the last remaining games of the regular season.
