This game seemed to have Los Angeles written all over it, aside from an 11-point lead early on by Washington. This early run proved to be short lived. Lakers’ players had a field day with LeBron James scoring 23 points with 11 assists in just 24 minutes. Anthony Davis had 26 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks, including a huge dunk on Moritz Wagner. Quinn Cook scored 17 points, Rajon Rondo had 13, and Danny Green added 11.

Two Wizards alums took advantage of their former team. JaVale McGee had 15 points and made 5-of-6 free throws. Dwight Howard finished the night with 8 points.

The Wizards found some success in Bradley Beal, who led Washington with 18 points and nine assists. Rui Hachimura scored 16 points and nabbed 8 rebounds. Shooting just 39.6% from the field, compared to the Lakers’ 51.7%, proved to be a major reason for a Washington defeat. The Lakers also converted 14 of 32 3-pointers compared to Washington who was 10 of 37.

Despite this tough loss, Washington can’t let this define their whole season. Going out against a tough Lakers team, who sits at 17-2, is not an easy task and many more losses like this are sure to come. However, Washington entered the game tied with the Milwaukee Bucks as the league’s highest-scoring teams with an average of 119.4 points per outing. So promise does exist for the 6-11 Wizards.

The Lakers host the Dallas Mavericks (12-6) December 1, while the Wizards look to improve against a tough Los Angeles Clippers team (14-6) on December 1 as well.
