On Wednesday morning, Coleen Rooney, wife of D.C. United attacker Wayne Rooney posted a long note onto her public Twitter account.
The note told that exclusive details of her life were getting leaked to the English tabloid, The Sun. The details shared with the newspaper were from her private Instagram account, which only a small number of close friends follow.
She had a general idea of who this leaker could’ve been and got to work. Rooney showed off her smarts by devising a plan: She created fake stories and limited those stories to be viewable by one person. Those stories ended up in The Sun soon after and just like that, Rooney found her perpetrator. To her surprise, it was Rebekah Vardy, the wife of Wayne Rooney’s teammate, Jamie Vardy.
Rooney shared her detective work on Twitter.

30 SPORTS FIGURES WHO DIED IN 2018 – TRIBUTE SLIDESHOW
Rooney revealed that the stories about gender selection in Mexico, her return to TV, and her basement flooding were all fabricated to find the person behind her private life getting leaked to the press.
The accused party was not without comment as she posted her own response on Twitter soon after. It boiled down to the claims that other people are using Vardy’s account without her recognition, and being insulted that Rooney would do this to her, especially while she’s “heavily pregnant.”
It remains to be seen how this will play out between the two wives or the players on the same team, but there is definitely more that will unfold from this. D.C United will face Toronto FC in the first round of the MLS playoffs for the right to face the NY Bulls starting Oct. 19.
