Manchester United and England National Team captain Wayne Rooney is reportedly set to remain out for at least one month with a knee ligament injury.
The forward was left out of United’s squad for its Europa League match with Midtjylland on Thursday evening. He will remain on the sideline for about four to eight weeks.
Rooney, 30, lasted all 90 minutes of Saturday’s 2-1 loss at Sunderland and is believed to have picked up the problem in training since then.
The striker will also miss friendlies against Germany and Holland next month. He will also be sidelined for the FA Cup tie against Shrewsbury, as well as the upcoming Premier League clash against Arsenal.

Man U Manager Louis van Gaal is expected to give additional details about Rooney’s injury during a pre-match Europa League press conference in Denmark on Wednesday. “He scores a lot of goals so he is very important for us,” said van Gaal. We know that but we have to cope.”
Rooney has gone through a bit of a rough patch in his game performances lately, scoring five times in his last eight league outings. United are fifth in the Premier League, six points behind fourth-placed Manchester City. Rooney’s participation in the Euro 2016 cup, which begins on June 10, is not thought to be in doubt.
