Jacob deGrom #48 of the New York Mets throws a pitch
Jacob deGrom recorded nine strikeouts and allowed zero walks and only four hits in 6 2/3 innings to lead the New York Mets to a 10-0 rout of the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park on Thursday night.
The starting right-hander experienced a brief scare in the bottom of the seventh inning, however, as a line drive from Nick Williams struck him in the right arm. DeGrom left the game and was treated but X-rays were negative, as he was diagnosed with just a bruised right triceps. The righty expects to make his next start.
Wilmer Flores, Neil Walker, Michael Conforto and Curtis Granderson all homered for the Mets.

Conforto worked a two-out walk and scored in the first inning, then hit a three-run home run off the left-field foul pole in the seventh inning to put the Mets up 7-0.
The Mets (51-61) have dropped five of their last seven game and sit 16.5 games behind National League East leaders Washington (68-45) to rank third in the division.
Dominic Smith, the Mets’ No. 2 prospect, has been called up from Triple-A Las Vegas to start for New York in Friday night’s game in Philadelphia, the second of a four-game series. Smith will play behind right-hander Seth Lugo (5-3, 4.55 ERA), who is 0-1 with a 6.75 ERA his last two starts. To make roster room for Smith, the Mets designated reliever Fernando Salas for assignment after Thursday’s game.
The Phillies (42-70, 5th in NL East) will counter with right-hander Nick Pivetta (4-7, 5.89 ERA). Pivetta has pitched six or more innings in just six of his 16 starts, and he has allowed five or more runs in four of his past eight starts. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm EST.
