Olympic athlete Allyson Felix talks about how training has changed for her over the years. Felix has participated in four Olympics and has won a total of nine medals throughout her Olympic career as a runner.

When asked if her training has changed throughout the years, Felix said that because she is already experienced, she “knows what to expect” and no longer has to learn new techniques to be an efficient runner while competing.

“I definitely feel different in the aspect of having the experience. It takes a lot to ruffle my feathers now,” she said. “I know what to expect and I feel like I’m able to train much smarter and at this point it’s not so much that I’m learning so many new things.”

“It’s almost a great place to be just having that benefit having done this for several years now. I know when things are going well, when things aren’t and what I need to adjust. I’ve just been trying to use all that experience and I feel blessed that I’ve been able to take care of my body through the year so I feel really good. This is probably the best I’ve felt after giving birth so I’m really excited about that.”

Though this is her last competition in the Olympics, Felix is excited about the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games.

“I do plan on this being my final Olympics,” she said. “I don’t see myself doing another Olympics.”

The United States will certainly miss Felix representing the country. She has been one of the best female runners in this nation’s history. Now, Felix is simply hoping to bring home some more medals in here final Olympic Games.
