VIDEO EXCLUSIVE: U.S. Olympic Hockey Player Kendall Coyne Schofield On Growth Of Women’s Hockey

Kendall Coyne Schofield, the captain of the United States Olympic Women’s Ice Hockey team, wants to inspire the next generation of athletes.

“I think the growth that we’ve seen, over the past three or four years, even in the midst of a global pandemic has been tremendous for the growth of the girls and women’s game in the United States,” she said. “I believe it’s one of the fastest-growing sports and to feel that we may have played a small part in that is a tremendous honor for all of us. This group is so passionate and fueled to inspire the next generation to fill our skates one day and I think that gold medal in 2018 definitely had an impact.”

Coyne believes that the gold medal the team managed to win in 2018 will play a major part in inspiring the people who will one day take their place.

“For a lot of us little bit older players on the team, I think our dream started by seeing the 98 team win a gold medal,” she said. “Seeing the impact that had on us and to think and feel that we may have had that same impact on the next generation here in the United States after that win in 2018 is tremendous.”
