Former First Round Pick Paxton Lynch Suffers Injury While Attempting To Make Comeback In National Area League

It has been a tumultuous career for former Denver Broncos first-round quarterback Paxton Lynch, who was in the midst of making a football comeback before being hampered by another injury.

Lynch was playing for the Colorado Spartans in the National Arena League and was only making $600 per game before he went down with a devastating injury.

The former Broncos QB dropped back to pass before being sacked by a defender, and as he went down, his right knee buckled and left him with a torn LCL.

Lynch, 32, told the Denver Post that he was “pissed off” that he now has to recover from this injury, which keeps him off the field. “It sucks. I didn’t want it to be like this.”

The recovery timeline for a torn LCL varies depending on the type of tear; a mild sprain can range from a three to four-week recovery, while a complete tear can be a three to six-month recovery.

Despite being a first-round pick, Lynch didn’t see that much action in the NFL, only playing five games in two seasons for the Broncos before being released.

Lynch had stops with the Seattle Seahawks and Pittsburgh Steelers, but never made it past the practice squad with either team.

After his NFL career, he joined the XFL in 2020 and also played in the USFL and the CFL, but was cut from the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Lynch was happy with how he was playing before suffering the injury, throwing for 413 yards and eight touchdowns before his season was announced to be over.
