Vegas Golden Knights Sweep L.A. Kings In First Round Of Stanley Cup Playoffs With 1-0 Win In Game 4 [VIDEO]

The Los Angeles Kings are out of the Stanley Cup Playoffs after the Vegas Golden Knights swept them in the first round.

Golden Knights Sweep Kings In NHL Playoffs

Brayden McNabb scored in the second period to lift the Knights to a 1-0 victory over the Kings in Game 4 at Staples Center on Tuesday night.

The Golden Knights are now the first NHL expansion team to ever sweep a postseason series in its debut year in the league. Las Vegas had already made history earlier this year after becoming the first expansion team to clinch their division (the Pacific Division).

One of the biggest stars on the Knights’ roster has been goalie Marc-Andre Fleurya former Pittsburgh Penguins player who helped lead that franchise to three Stanley Cup wins.

“You guys remind us or tell us about those records, but it’s not something that we talk about or shoot for,” Fleury told NBC Sports after the win. “All season long, I didn’t know any records about expansion teams. We just do what we do. We just play the game and try to win. That’s it.”

Fleury is 11th on the league’s all-time list of career playoff victories with 66.

McNabb’s goal on Tuesday came off a one-time pass from Reilly Smith 4:04 into the middle period.

Fleury made 31 saves in the game for his second shutout in the playoffs, while Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick stopped 20 shots. Quick allowed only seven goals in this first-round series.

Las Vegas will next face the winner of the Anaheim Ducks and San Jose Sharks series in the second round. The Sharks lead the series 3-0, and Game 4 is set for Wednesday night in San Jose.

Knights head coach Gerard Gallant is reveling in his team’s success.

“It’s unreal,” Gallant told ESPN. “When you think back to early October when the season started, we were thinking about competing and playing hard, and now all of a sudden, we’re moving on to the second round of the playoffs. We’re playing good hockey, and we got experienced guys and a good hockey team, so we’re pretty proud of it and real happy.

“We’ll have a week off here to get ready for the next one. It’s awesome. It’s been a great feeling.”
