Now that he has finally served his four-game suspension for his involvement in the ‘Deflategate‘ controversy, Tom Brady can make fun of the scandal.
That’s exactly what the New England Patriots quarterback did in a new Foot Locker commercial. The ad begins with two Foot Locker shoppers walking into a diner, questioning how the shoe retailer’s annual Thanksgiving sale could continue to be so great year after year. “Kind of makes you wonder what Foot Locker is up to?” one of them says.
The camera then cuts to the person sitting next to the two young men at the counter, who is revealed to be Brady. “You know, that’s an unfortunate mindset you got there,” the veteran QB says, as the pair of men look awestruck.

Visibly frustrated, Brady goes on a fast-paced tirade in which he says: “Just because something is great year after year doesn’t mean anything is going on.” He continues, saying such questions “turn into assumptions, and then assumptions turn into vacations.”
The QB eventually leaves, dejected, saying “I’ve lost my appetite.”
Brady, whose comedy chops seem good in this ad, has done several commercials over the years, including a Beautyrest mattress ad of him finding said mattress in an empty room in the middle of a luxurious hotel/mansion. He served his four-game suspension to start this season. It was imposed after an NFL investigation concluded the Patriots intentionally under-inflated footballs used in the 2015 AFC Championship game against the Indianapolis Colts.
NFL writer Dan Hanzus said he “picked up a Matt Damon vibe” from Brady in the Foot Locker ad. Damon, like Brady, is a prominent celebrity from Massachusetts.
