Once again, Tom Brady has made NFL history this time as the first player to achieve 600 touchdown passes in his career.
During Sunday’s game, Brady nailed a nine-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Mike Evans with less than 10 seconds in the first quarter, becoming the first quarterback in NFL history to throw 600 career passing touchdowns. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers went on to win 38-3 over the Chicago Bears.
“I just think of all the guys that are sharing it with me,” Brady said. “That’s the reality. There’s nothing about this sport that you do by yourself. It’s the ultimate team sport. It challenges you physically, mentally, emotionally, every week, every day at practice – this is not a sport you can just mail it in.”

Brady had started Sunday’s game with 598 career touchdown passes. His 599th touchdown pass was a 6-yard strike to Chris Godwin with just under five minutes left in the first quarter. The Buccaneers, who led 21-0 after the first quarter, opened the game with three straight drives that ended in Chicago’s end zone.
Brady now has 29 more touchdowns than Drew Brees, who is second all-time with 571 touchdown passes. Peyton Manning, who has 539 touchdown passes, and Brett Favre, who has 508 touchdown passes, are the only other quarterbacks with at least 500 career touchdown passes.
Brady ended the game with four touchdowns, giving him a total of 602 and counting as the season continues. He celebrated the landmark by keeping the ball that helped him reach the historic touchdown. However, Evans, unaware of the historical significance behind the touchdown pass, gave the ball to a fan who was sitting in the front row of the end zone. The fan agreed to give the ball back to the Buccaneers in exchange for another game ball as well as a signed jersey.
“Every day he comes to practice, he looks like he’s 12,” Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach, Bruce Arians said. “The numbers ─ they are staggering, they will probably never be broken. I say that, but who knows when the next Tom Brady’s gonna come? But they are staggering, but when you watch him practice every single day, you don’t see the age.”
At the young age of 44, Brady is currently the oldest player who is still active in the NFL, and as he has stated numerous times, he is not planning on leaving the sport any time soon.
