Tiger Woods Partners With 2K In Newest Golf Video Game

Tiger Woods is making his return to the realm of video games.

On Tuesday, Woods and 2K Games announced a new long-term deal to become a part of the PGA Tour 2K video game franchise. This ends Woods’ eight year hiatus from sports video games. Woods was once the face of EA Sports with the Tiger Woods PGA Tour franchise, one of the most successful sports video games ever, and had a partnership with EA which lasted 15 years, until 2013.

This deal comes just less than a month after Woods’ single car crash in the Los Angeles Suburbs, which led to serious leg injuries which required surgery. Woods is now back in his South Florida home, where he will continue his recovery.

The move comes as another opportunity for 2K Games to extend its empire in the world of sports video games. 2K already owns one of the most successful sports franchises in NBA 2K, and while it generally loses in the realm of football games to EA’s Madden series, Woods’ support of PGA Tour will certainly give them a leg up in golf gaming. With uncertainty surrounding Woods’ ability to return to the golf course and compete in the PGA, this partnership serves as a bright spot for both sides.
