Tiger Woods & Girlfriend Erica Herman Named In Wrongful Death Lawsuit After Fatal Drunk-Driving Crash

Tiger Woods and his girlfriend, restaurant manager Erica Herman, as well as The Woods restaurant are being sued for the wrongful death of an employee. The employee drank alcohol after working a shift in December at the Jupiter, Florida, restaurant and then was killed in a car crash.

Nicholas Immesberger, the employee, had a blood alcohol reading of .256, more than three times the legal limit in Florida, according to the suit filed in West Palm Beach, Florida. Immesberger’s family’s lawsuit claims that he had lost control of his car on Federal Highway in Martin County and that this led to fatal injuries. The 24-year-old was pronounced dead on the scene. It took place on December 10, 2018.

“Well, we’re all very sad that Nick passed away,” Woods said Tuesday. “It was a terrible night, a terrible ending, and just — we feel bad for him and his entire family. It’s very sad.”

The suit alleges that Immesberger, who was a bartender at The Woods, had a drinking problem and that Woods, Herman and other employees were aware of this but only fueled his addiction during and after his work shifts.

It also alleges that Woods and his significant other were “drinking with him at The Woods bar only a few nights before the fatal crash of December 10, 2018.” The two returned home from a trip to Australia on the night of December 7.

“Tiger knew, or reasonably should have known, that Immesberger was habitually addicted to the use of any or all alcoholic beverages, and/or was a habitual drunkard,” the lawsuit says.

The suit more specifically states that they “ignored Immesberger’s disease, they fueled it by over-serving him alcohol to the point of severe intoxication and then sending him out to his car to drive home. As a result of this negligence, Immesberger crashed his vehicle and died on December 10, 2018, after leaving The Woods.”

It’s not known if Woods was at the restaurant on December 10. His agent could not be reached for comment. The golfer is playing in the PGA Championship this week at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York.
