Last week, it became very clear who the No. 1 team in Texas was according to SportsDayDFW’s panel of 12 voters. This week, that decision was confirmed.

Texas A&M Emerges As Unanimous No. 1 In Final Poll Of Top Texas Teams

Despite the fact that they lost to Kentucky in overtime of the SEC Championship game, the Texas A&M Aggies were still voted the Best in Texas with 120 points and 12 first place votes.

Just last week, The Aggies (26-8, 13-5 SEC) defeated the Florida Gators 72-66 on Friday, as well as LSU 71-38 on Saturday, both at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. Texas A&M also lost to the Kentucky Wildcats 82-77 in overtime in the SEC Championship game on Sunday. They will next face the Green Bay Phoenix in the Round of 64 in Oklahoma City on Friday.

Danuel House scored a career-high 32 points for the Aggies against Kentucky. A&M made the deepest run of a Power FIve school, and thanks to its additional victories over Baylor and Texas, it earned the top spot in the Texas teams standings.

In second place come the No. 5 Baylor Bears (22-11, 10-8 in the Big 12), who just last week defeated the No. 23 Texas Longhorns 75-61 on Thursday and then lost to the No. 1 Kansas Jayhawks 70-66 on Friday.

Although Baylor suffered 11 losses this season, eight of those losses came against teams in the top nine, and five came to teams that were ranked No. 1 in the country at some point this season. The Bears have made it to the NCAA Tournament the last three years in a row. They will next face the Yale Bulldogs in the NCAA tournament Round of 64 game in Providence on Thursday.

The UTEP Miners (19-14, 10-8 C-USA ) came in last place in the Top 10 Texas teams. They lost to the Marshall Thundering Herd 87-85 in the C-USA Quarterfinals in Birmingham, Alabama last Thursday. The miners finished the season sixth in C-USA and do not seem to be headed for a postseason berth.

The TCU Horned Frogs and the North Texas Mean Green were not ranked.
