Kawhi Leonard led the Spurs with 29 points and eight rebounds, while LaMarcus Aldridge had 26 points and 10 rebounds and Tony Parker logged 20 points and 12 assists.

Bulls head coach Fred Hoiberg, who earned the first technical foul of his career after stepping slightly onto the court into the path of official Kevin Cutler. Hoiberg thought power forward Taj Gibson had been fouled, as did Gibson, after the player went up for a rim shot with 2:39 left in regulation as the Bulls trailed by 10, but the officials made no call.

“It came out of nowhere,” Bulls point guard Derrick Rose said in reference to Hoiberg after his team’s 109-101 loss to the Spurs. “But he got it.”

Leonard, Aldridge and Parker all helped the Spurs turn a 90-87 lead into a 104-92 lead in just four minutes.

With the loss, the Bulls have now fallen to ninth place in the Eastern Conference, just behind the Detroit Pistons, and will next host the Miami Heat on Friday night. The Spurs, meanwhile, remain strong in second place in the Western Conference and will next host the Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday night.
