Seattle Seahawks Concerned That Russell Wilson Is Too Much Of A Celebrity

Less than two years ago, Russell Wilson was lifting the Lombardi Trophy as a Super Bowl Champion. Now he’s in the center of a potential controversy.

The team is currently sitting at the .500 mark and some within the organization reportedly believe that Wilson isn’t preparing for games the same way he did earlier in his career. More specifically, they are concerned that he might be too much of a celebrity for his own good.

To be fair, Wilson is a bit of a celebrity – he has plenty of endorsement deals, dates Ciara and appears in commercials with people like Macklemore. But that all has to be expected when dealing with a Super Bowl winning NFL quarterback.

Furthermore, despite Seattle’s struggles, Wilson hasn’t been significantly worse than his previous campaigns. He’s also dealing with a weakened offensive line, an injured Marshawn Lynch and a tough schedule; the Seahawks might have five losses this season, but they’ve come against the Rams, Packers, Bengals, Panthers and Cardinals.

Has Wilson become more of a celebrity? Yes. Is it his fault the Seahawks aren’t as good as they were a few years ago? Probably not.
