GREEN BAY, WISCONSIN - JANUARY 12: Shaquem Griffin #49 of the Seattle Seahawks in action in the fourth quarter against the Green Bay Packers during the NFC Divisional Round Playoff game at Lambeau Field
During the Seahawks‘ 28-23 loss the Packers in the NFC Divisional Round game, Seahawks’ outside linebacker, Shaquem Griffin was able to record his first NFL sack.
In the fourth quarter, Griffin and his twin brother, Shaquill, blitzed inside the pocket to reach Aaron Rodgers. Shaquem got to the Packers’ quarterback first, but Shaquill, a Seahawks’ cornerback, helped bring Rodgers down in what was a very special play.
“It felt amazing,” said Shaqeum who has played since. “It’s so crazy because I didn’t know that it was my brother on my back. I was like, ‘What’s going on?’ … It’s crazy. We talk about it: ‘What’s the odds?’ Everything we do: ‘What’s the odds of that?’”
“It was a huge moment,” said Shaquill. “I just hope someone got that picture. I would love to have that picture.”

Shaquill is the starting cornerback for Seattle and plays almost every snap. In three seasons with the Seahawks, he’s compiled 185 tackles, three interceptions and one sack. Shaquem hasn’t seen as much action, usually subbing in as a pass rusher on third downs in his second season with the team. He finished with five tackles this season.
“I remember hearing stories about Aaron Rodgers coming into my rookie year and to get my hands on him, it’s huge,” Shaquill said. “It was an honor to be able to share that with my brother. Everything that we’ve been through, all the circumstances and situations we overcame, to be here together, to get the first sack together, what else can I ask for?”
According to Next Gen Stats, the sack took 2.77 seconds, the second fastest sack thus far in the NFL playoffs. Griffin has played his entire football career with a prosthetic hand.
