During October the eventual AFC West Champions were fifth among the favorites to hoist the Lombardi Trophy behind the Patriots, Saints, 49ers and Packers, according to Caesars. During that stretch, Mahomes was nursing a knee injury. Following his return the Chiefs won six straight games to claim first place in the division. Their last loss was against the Titans in November, who they face next week at Arrowhead Stadium in the AFC Championship game.

Prior to the season at the MGM Sportsbook in Nevada, Tennessee was the only team to not receive a bet to win the Super Bowl, according to ESPN. In October their chances were 400-1 and the odds remained in triple digits through December. The Borgata Sportsbook in Atlantic City, NJ offered bets that included picking two teams to reach the Super Bowl. No bets were taken that included the Titans.

“We’d lose a pretty good amount to the Titans in Mississippi,” Alan Berg, senior oddsmaker at Caesars Sportsbook, told ESPN. “In Indiana, we would lose a pile if the Titans won.”

Tennessee enters next week’s AFC title game as 7.5 underdogs. The 49ers are 7-point favorites over the Packers as they host Green Bay in the NFC Championship game.
