On Sunday, Chase Elliott finished second at the Coca-Cola 600. Then on Tuesday, Elliott ended Kyle Busch’s seven race winning streak on the Truck Series. On Thursday, Elliott was once again in the winners circle, winning the Alsco Uniforms 500. The race was pushed back from Wednesday due to poor weather, and on Thursday the race saw a 75-minute rain delay. But Elliott was able to prevail, beating out Denny Hamlin, who came in second. The win was Elliott’s first Cup Series win of the year and fourth top-5 finish this season. With the victory, Elliott moved to fourth in the Cup Series standings.

Speaking about the victory, Elliot said that although it was not the Coca-Cola 600, which he was so close to winning, it still feels good to win. “It’s not the Coke 600, but any win in the Cup series is really hard to get. I just really appreciate everybody at Hendrick Motorsports across the street here. Everybody’s been working really hard.”

Elliott took stock of his wild week. “Man, it’s been a tough week for sure,” he said. “We’ve had some tough losses but that deal on Sunday night was a heartbreaker.”
