Robert Griffin III Clears Out Locker, Leaves Final Note
Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III had an indisputably great rookie season, and almost seemed to have the potential to be the team’s franchise QB for years to come. However, RG III suffered a string of injuries and after much stagnation, he cleaned out his Redskins’ locker Monday morning, probably for the last time.
ROBERT GRIFFIN III CLEARS OUT LOCKER, LEAVES FINAL NOTE
Although he has not yet officially been released from the team, all signs indicate that the Redskins will be moving on from the former first-round draft pick. RG III cleared everything out of his locker except for one item: a flyer of sorts that left a straightforward yet powerful message. The message read: “People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway. If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends, and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway. If you are honest and sincere, people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyway. What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight. Create anyway. If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway. The good you do today, will often be forgotten. Do good anyway. Give the best you have, and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway. In the final analysis, it’s between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.”
Since being drafted by the Redskins in 2012, RG III has (as of 2014) had a 40-23 touchdown-interception ratio, 8,097 passing yards, 1,480 rushing yards, 8 rushing TD’s, and a 91.0 passer rating.
