LeGarrette Blount is back with the New England Patriots.
The veteran running back re-signed with the team as part of a one-year deal on Tuesday, according to several reports.
Blount, 29, was the Patriots’ leading rusher last season with a team-high 703 yards on 165 carries and six touchdowns. However, he suffered a season-ending hip injury on Dec. 13 in a game against the Houston Texans.
Blount was signed by the Tennessee Titans as an undrafted free agent in 2010 after playing collegiately for the Oregon Ducks.

Blount’s career was twice revived in New England. In 2013, he was acquired in a trade with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and after a strong season, he signed a two-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers as a free agent in 2014. However, after things went sour for Blount with the Steelers, he was waived late in the 2014 season and immediately returned to the Patriots on a two-year contract.
Over the course of his six-year NFL career, Blount has 869 carries and 3,961 yards with 31 touchdowns. Along with Dion Lewis, James White and free agent-signing Donald Brown, Blount should figure prominently in the running back rotation.
