Ex-Michigan Head Coach Sherrone Moore Sentenced To Probation Following Incident With Staffer

Former Michigan Wolverines head football coach Sherrone Moore was sentenced to 18 months’ probation and a $1,000 fine following an inappropriate relationship with a female staffer, which ultimately led to his termination.

The charges stem from a confrontation at the staff member’s home, during which Moore pleaded no contest to two misdemeanors last month. The two misdemeanors are malicious use of a telecommunications device in the context of a domestic relationship and trespassing.

Prosecutors dropped charges for felony home invasion, misdemeanor stalking and misdemeanor breaking and entering.

The relationship between Moore, who was married at the time, and the staff member allegedly lasted for years prior to her ending things, according to prosecutors.

Moore reacted to the relationship ending by allegedly “making numerous phone calls and sending numerous texts,” before she went to school officials and “presented herself to the University of Michigan.” The woman cooperated with the full investigation, prosecutors said.

According to the police, Moore barged into her home, grabbed two butter knives and a pair of scissors and threatened to kill himself.

Moore led Michigan to a 17-8 record in his two seasons as head coach before being fired.
