Luis Valbuena, Jose Castillo (Dec. 6)
Free agent infielder Luis Valbuena and former MLB player Jose Castillo died in a car accident in Venezuela on Dec. 6, 2018. They were 33 and 37, respectively.
Major League Baseball announced the news Friday morning. The two Venezuelans were playing winter ball in their native country and took part in a game Thursday night.
The accident reportedly occurred when their car collided with a rock that rolled on to the road in Valbuena’s native Yaracuy, Venezuela.
