Flyers unveil new mascot Gritty
On Monday night, the Philadelphia Flyers unveiled their new mascot, Gritty. He’s named after the term used to describe athletes who aren’t flashy or very talented. His mascot backstory is that he’s a subterranean entity that emerged from the bowels of the Wells Fargo Center, where the Flyers play, and he feasts on hot dogs.
While making his debut during a preseason game, he slipped on the ice and then asked on Twitter: “Why didn’t anybody tell me the ice is this slippery?”
