Panthers’ Cam Newton Visits Charleston Victim’s Family

The Carolina Panthers have gone out of their way to help the Charleston church shooting victims’ families. After the senseless killings sparked by racist ideology, the Panthers’ owner, Jerry Richardson, donated $100,000: $10,000 to each family to cover funeral costs.

And on Monday, franchise quarterback Cam Newton visited with a victim’s family to show support, according to The Charlotte Observer.

Cam Newton Visits Charleston Victim’s Family

After the tragic massacre at Emanuel AME Church, Newton, who has been outspoken and present for rallies throughout the city, thought it was important to show his support. So on Monday, he decided to visit the home of Sharonda Coleman-Singleton, one of the parishioners killed during the cruel attack.

There he spent time with Chris Singleton, Sharonda’s son and Charleston Southern baseball player, talking with him and posing for pictures. However, the superstar’s visit only became known when Chris and Rashard Alston posted pictures with the athlete on Twitter and Instagram, thanking him for the visit and the support.

Newton is just one in the long line of celebrities and athletes who have reached out to the victims’ families. Key figures like Dwight Howard, Kevin Hart, Cam Newton and more have made their presence known during the rallies. And this does not even count athletes like Andrew McCutchen and Marcus Lattimore, who Chris thanked via Twitter.
