The Green Bay Packers have lost both an offensive player and a defensive player heading into Week 7.

Packers’ Eddie Lacy To Miss Several Weeks With Ankle Injury

After coach Mike McCarthy stated that running back Eddie Lacy would not practice Tuesday due to ankle soreness, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported that Lacy could miss several weeks, not just Thursday night’s home game against the Bears. Rapoport added that the rusher’s injury is “more than a sprained ankle.”

Lacy was labeled questionable before Sunday’s loss to Dallas. Desperate for backfield depth, the Packers also traded for Kansas City running back Knile Davis on Tuesday morning.

Green Bay also announced that cornerback Sam Shields has been placed on injured reserve due to a concussion.

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported that the corner’s concussion has not subsided as the team had first hoped.

Shileds said on his Instagram account that he plans to return to the field after the mandatory eight-week stint on IR.

The earliest the corner could return is Dec. 15 at Chicago.

Shields has suffered five concussions in his career and doctors want to ensure the 28-year-old is fully recovered from the latest head injury before he begins playing again.

Among other NFL injuries are Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who could reportedly miss more than a month with a knee injury, and Browns safety Jordan Poyer, who was placed on IR Tuesday with a lacerated kidney.

In addition, Texans cornerback Kevin Johnson’s season is likely over after he underwent surgery on his broken foot Tuesday, while Jets receiver Eric Decker underwent hip surgery, and is anticipated to recover in sixth months.
