Oriole Park At Camden Yards To Change Left Field Dimensions To End Home Run-Friendly Reputation
For the first time in 20 years, iconic Oriole Park and Camden Yards will change its dimensions prior to the 2022 MLB season.
With its opening in 1992 triggering a retro trend for MLB stadiums, Camden Yards will see its left field wall heightened from seven feet to around 12 from the foul pole to the bullpens in left-center field and moved back about 30 feet from its 333 distance down the line.
The move is an attempt to thwart the ballpark’s reputation for being home-run-friendly. In fact, Camden Yards saw the most dingers in 2021:
- Camden Yards, 277
- Great American Ball Park (Reds), 250
- Wrigley Field (Cubs), 242
- Target Field (Twins), 233
- Dodger Stadium (Dodgers), 231
