The NFL has just announced an update to their playoff format. Building on last year’s expansion, which featured an additional Wild Card team in each Conference, the NFL released a statement noting that this season’s Super Wild Card weekend (January 15-17) will conclude with a game being played on a Monday.
As such there will be two Wild Card games on Saturday, three on Sunday and one on Monday.
Some observers have criticized this decision for being motivated by money at the expense of that Monday’s winner, as that squad could theoretically play an opponent that had two extra days of rest.
