NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell Paid $34.1 Million In 2014

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell was paid $34.1 million in 2014 salaries, according to an ESPN report released Tuesday that cited a tax filing conducted by the league.

Report: Roger Goodell Paid $34.1 million In 2014

The reported figure accounts for Goodell’s total salary, bonuses and pension compensation. Goodell had a $3.5 million base salary, but he also received a bonus of $26.5 million, a figure that was determined in 2013. In addition, he received $3.7 million in pension and other deferred benefits and $273,000 in “other reportable compensation.”

Goodell, who turns 57 on Friday, has come under intense scrutiny over the past two years or so for his handling of the Ray Rice, Greg Hardy and Adrian Peterson domestic violence cases, as well as many other scandals that have rocked the NFL.

Goodell earned $35 million in total compensation in 2013. The commissioner’s pay has long been a point of contention for many. President Obama even weighed in, remarking in a GQ interview last November, “I cannot believe that the commissioner of football gets paid $44 million a year.”
