DENVER, CO - NOVEMBER 25: JuJu Smith-Schuster #81 of the Pittsburgh Steelers dives for athrown ball against the Denver Broncos at Broncos Stadium at Mile High on November 25, 2018 in Denver, Colorado. The pass was incomplete.
The New York Jets are not done making moves to revamp their wide receiver corps. New York is currently engaging in talks with free agent Juju Smith-Schuster. This rumor was brought on by NFL Network reporter Ian Rapport, who tweeted about it.
Smith-Schuster and the Jets have been linked since the offseason started. The Jets have been one of the more likely destinations for the former Steelers wideout. More than that, Jets quarterback Sam Darnold was teammates with Smith-Schuster during their college years at USC.
Despite the interest and favorability towards landing Smith-Schuster this offseason, New York has not signed him. However, New York did opt to sign former Titans wide receiver Corey Davis.
New York signed Davis to a three-year, $37.5 million contract. The contract gave Davis $27 million in guaranteed money. Davis is a great choice because he is a young receiver who has been improving throughout his short career. Last season, Davis had 65 receptions for 984 yards and five touchdowns for the Tennessee Titans.

Well, now New York is turning its attention towards possibly pursuing Smith-Schuster. Landing the 24-year-old wide receiver would do wonders for the Jets’ offense, especially if the former Pro Bowler can put up consistent numbers like he did during his time with the Pittsburgh Steelers. In 2018, the wide receiver was elected to the Pro Bowl after hauling in 111 catches for 1,426 yards and seven touchdowns. In three of his four years with the Steelers, Smith-Schuster has produced over 800 receiving yards. Last season, he finished with 97 catches for 831 yards and nine touchdowns.
The stud wideout opted not to re-sign with the Steelers and instead became a free agent. New York currently has enough cap space to sign him, but if they do, then will likely have to release another wide receiver on their team to make enough cap space.
