New Jersey Suspends Betting On Ukrainian Table Tennis Over Possible Match-Fixing

Amid concerns of possible match-fixing on Ukrainian table tennis events has led to New Jersey telling sportsbooks in the state to halt all betting on the sport.

In a notice obtained by ESPN, New Jersey officials were alerted by the Sports Wagering Integrity Monitoring Association to avoid betting on any and all table tennis matches in Ukraine or with any of six players. Those players include Liliia Zaitseva, Ivan Gaysin, Karen Dzhanibekyan, Eduard Panichev, Anastasia Efimova and Gleb Zotov

The notice does make a point of saying that there is no definite evidence of match-fixing, but there is suspension of such. “While there is not yet any evidence that any match fixing occurred in New Jersey, due the nature of the alert, the Division is suspending approval for wagering on all table tennis events in the Ukraine, including but not limited to the Setka Cup, WIN Cup, and TT Cup.”

With the coronavirus pandemic temporarily halting a lot of sports in the United States and around the globe, table tennis has been a popular sport to wagered on by bettors with hundreds of thousands of dollars being bet on the sport daily.
