Malcolm Butler will not appear in a game this season for the New England Patriots.
The team announced Tuesday that the 32-year-old has been placed on injured reserve.
Meanwhile, the exact injury is not clear as Butler has missed the past two practices.

He appeared in 23 snaps in Thursday’s preseason against on August 11 against the New York Giants.
Butler has spent his most recent three seasons with the Tennessee Titans before playing four years with the Patriots.
And in March, Butler came back as a free agent to the Patriots after unretiring.
In his career, the 5-foot-11, 190-pound defensive back has recorded 405 total tackles, three sacks and 17 interceptions in 100 games.
He was best-known in New England for being the hero in Super Bowl XLIX – making a game-saving interception around the goal line.
In free agency, Butler signed a two-year deal.
It’s unclear if he will play that second year, go back into retirement, or get cut.
His cap hit would be reportedly $2.75 million next year.
The Patriots’ starting corners now include Terrance Mitchell and Jalen Mills.
Some other corners on the depth chart include Marcus Jones, Myles Bryant, Jack Jones and Devin Hafford.
Additionally, the Patriots placed another cornerback, Joejuan Williams, on injured reserve today.
