NCAA Baskeball Top 25 Polls Released, Kentucky Ranked First
The National College Athletic Association has released three different polls-AP, Coaches, and RPI-ranking the top 25 basketball teams in the nation. The Kentucky Wildcats, who hold a 7-0 record, ranked first in both the AP and Coaches Polls. They have 1,619 points and 797 points according to each respective poll. The Maryland Terrapins (6-0) and the Michigan State Spartans (7-0) ranked second and third respectively according to these same two polls.
Other undefeated teams on the polls include the Iowa State Cyclones (5-0), the Oklahoma Sooners (4-0), The Villanova Wildcats (6-0), the Purdue Boilermakers (6-0), the Xavier Musketeers (7-0), the Syracuse Orange (6-0), and the Oregon Ducks (6-0).
These teams were also ranked by RPI (Ratings Percentage Index), which is a metric used to rank NCAA teams based on their wins, losses, and strength of schedule. According to this poll, the Davidson Wildcats were ranked first, with an RPI of .7421. At the bottom of the rankings (No. 25) according to this poll are the UT Arlington Mavericks, with an RPI of .6483.
