Washington Nationals right-handed pitcher Max Scherzer played catch with an 11-year-old New York Mets fan in the stands before the team’s game Wednesday at Citi Field.
The boy’s father, Joe La Rocca took a video of the moment and shared it on Twitter.
“How was that?” the boy’s father asked.
“Amazing! I’m not giving this ball away, there’s no way,” the youngster answered.

It was certainly a great gesture from Scherzer, especially after having lost the previous night’s game 2-0 against the Mets at Citi Field. It’s not everyday that a major league pitcher actually takes the time to play around with a fan, especially a fan of a team that his not his own. The Nationals then beat the Mets 7-1 on Wednesday and 9-1 on Thursday.
Scherzer recently broke the MLB record with 20 strikeouts in a nine-inning game.
