Most-Infamous Athlete Mugshots: Joe Frazier Arrested For Assault In 2004
On February 13, 2004, legendary boxer Joe Frazier was arrested and charged with simple assault and reckless endangerment.
Police responded to a call made by the mother of Frazier’s son. When police arrived, she had facial injuries, which led to Frazier’s arrest.
The charges were dropped because the victim wouldn’t testify in court.
Frazier made his professional boxing debut on August 16, 1965, where he defeated Woody Goss by TKO.

On February 16, 1970, Frazier won the vacant WBA and WBC heavyweight championships when he defeated Jimmy Ellis by TKO in the fifth round.
His most notable victory was in 1971 when he defeated Muhammad Ali by unanimous decision. The two fought three times, and Ali got the better of Frazier, winning two of the three fights.
Frazier retired in 1976, but he came back for one more fight in 1981 before officially retiring from boxing.
In 1990, Frazier was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame. He was inducted in the inaugural class.
On November 7, 2011, Frazier passed away from liver cancer.
