MLB To Implement 60-Game Season To Start Mid-July

After the MLB Players Association voted against the league’s offer for 60-game with full prorated salaries, MLB made a decision that has been long awaited. It will be implementing a 60-game season with the agreement that was made back on March 26 between the two sides.

The league requested that the player’s union provide pieces of information. The first being that would players be able to report to training camp by July 1, which is expected to be a yes. The second asking if the union has signed off on the health and safety protocols implemented by the league, which is expected to take place as well. The MLBPA has until 5:00 p.m. Tuesday to let MLB know if these two things will be doable.

The league has had this ability all along based on their March agreement where they could have implemented a season, and despite all the back and forth, it finally seems that there will be baseball in 2020.

There are still a lot of details that need to be ironed out, but for the first time in a long time, it looks like fans of baseball will get to watch their favorite players and teams this year.
