The Miami Heat are officially ending Terry Rozier‘s stint with the team, as they announced he will be waived.

Rozier, 32, is owed $26.6 million this year and is in the final season of a four-year $96.3 million contract that the Heat most definitely regretted handing out.

The former Louisville Cardinal was placed on leave by the NBA during the federal investigation into gambling and being accused of manipulating his own stats so that his “Unders” would hit. This allegedly occurred while Rozier was a member of the Charlotte Hornets.

Rozier was placed under arrest by the FBI during their investigation into an illegal gambling ring. He pleaded not guilty to wire fraud conspiracy and money laundering conspiracy charges.

Despite being placed on leave, he still held a roster spot, so the Heat decided to create an open roster spot ahead of the Play-In tournament.

With the season coming to an end, the Heat have been planning this move for quite some time, knowing Rozier would not be a factor in the postseason.
