Well it appears the 2015 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships has not been kind to star skier Lindsey Vonn: after placing third in the opening Super G race, Vonn has failed to impress her home Beaver Creek crowd.
Since the opening bronze, she has competed in two events: the Downhill event and the Alpine Combined, which combines both downhill and slalom. In Friday’s Downhill event, Vonn failed to achieve a medal, finishing .71 seconds behind third place finisher Lara Gut. Tina Maze increased her dominance by attaining gold and the silver medalist was Anna Fenninger.
As for yesterday’s Alpine Combined, she failed to place as she did not finish her second run: in the first downhill portion, she managed a seventh place finish, but “[she] straddled a gate in her slalom run, [effectively] taking her out of the standings.” In the end, Tina Maze would win gold again: securing her third medal in three races.

After the race a very emotional Vonn talked to NBC Sports about her disappointment thus far: “I’m just really disappointed. It’s a hometown World Championships, and I really tried as hard as I could. I came up short, and that’s disappointing for myself, for my family and for my fans. I just didn’t figure out this hill at all. I’m disappointed today because I actually skied really good slalom the last two days [in training]. I thought I had a chance at getting a medal.”
Von’s final event is the Giant Slalom on Thursday: it will be her last chance to attain a medal and hopefully rectify what has been a disappointing 2015 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships.
