Lebron James Responds To Kevin Love’s MVP Comments

The whole season, Kevin Love’s devotion to Lebron and the Cavaliers has been called into question. In fact, he went from show-to-show this week talking about how he has bought into the system and plans to be a Cav next year.

In the midst of this media trip, he was asked on Monday’s The Dan Patrick Show about who the MVP candidate should be: he had to pick between Russell Westbrook and his teammate Lebron James. And despite being a layup question, Love proceeded to answer honestly, which made the media go insane.

“They are both having MVP type of seasons, but I am going to go with Russell Westbrook,” said Love. “Every single night, you are looking at his stat sheet. They are fighting for a playoff spot even with Serge Ibaka going down, Kevin Durant potentially being out for the rest of the year and [Russell] still going out there and really fighting for his team and them winning… Russ is arguably having the better season.”

Since then, Lebron has been sought out for a response. “I don’t really think too much of it, really,” James told ESPN after Tuesday’s practice. “I don’t really get involved in that. I think the voters are going to decide who is the MVP.”

“I think what Russ has been doing, his numbers have been pretty crazy keeping those guys afloat in the West in his play,” James continued. “Steph Curry can make a case, for sure, what he’s been doing — James Harden and myself, as well. So, Kevin has his own opinion of who he believes is the MVP. No one should fault him for that.”

Afterwards Love attempted to clarify his statement from The Dan Patrick Show. “If you choose to get the little three or four second clip,” Love scoffed about the controversy. “In my whole answer I said LeBron could very well be the MVP. Steph Curry, James Harden — those are guys that you all talk about. You know very well all of them could be named (MVP).”

Kevin Love just cannot seem to catch a break. After declaring that he is likely going to be a Cav next season — meaning he will not opt out of his 2015 contract — the media jumped on this so-called controversial answer.
