Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani had one of the most memorable postseason performances in baseball history on Friday, hitting three home runs and notching 10 strikeouts and zero runs as pitcher in the Dodgers’ 5-1 win against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Ohtani’s performance helped the Dodgers sweep the Brewers and advance to their second straight World Series. The team will face the Toronto Blue Jays for a chance to secure back-to-back championships.
But just how good was the performance by the Dodgers superstar?
Ohtani is the third player in MLB history to record three home runs while starting as pitcher, joining Jim Tobin and Guy Hecker with the feat. Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Rick Wise had a similar performance in 1971 against the Cincinnati Reds, hitting two home runs and pitching no hits.
