Jeremy Roenick Hilariously Interviews John Scott During All-Stars

Forward John Scott scored two goals in the Pacific Division’s opening game of the NHL All-Star Game 3-on-3 tournament. Thus, he was one of the first few players former NHL Center and current NBCSports analyst Jeremy Roenick interviewed during the game.

Jeremy Roenick Interviews John Scott During All-Stars

Shortly before this game, Roenick called Scott classless for accepting a spot in the All-Star Game after winning the fan vote. Roenick also criticized Scott for not stepping aside in favor of his Arizona Coyotes teammates, even after they told him he should definitely play in the game. The sportscaster confidently claimed Scott would be “as out of place at the NHL All-Star Game ‘as the only white guy at the Million Man March.'”

After Scott scored his first goal (and briefly got into a fight with Patrick Kane), Roenick first interviewed the San Jose Sharks’s Brent Burns, and then turned to speak to Scott:

“I’ve been highly critical of you being here in the All-Star Game,” Roenick started. “But I gotta tell you, I was wrong because you’ve been the most entertaining part so far of this game: a goal, a big hit, what’s it like out there?” “It’s not the first time you’ve been wrong,” Scott replied, after adding, when asked about the experience of being at the game, “It’s been fantastic, every second I’ve been here has just been, like, overwhelming. The fans have been great, everybody’s just been really welcoming so it’s been a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.” “You’re not looking out of place. Good luck for the second half,” Roenick said to conclude the interview. Roenick also admitted he was wrong and apologized via Twitter, and added a picture of himself with Scott:

Scott has played for several teams in his nine-year career in the NHL, including the Chicago Blackhawks, San Jose Sharks, Buffalo Sabres, and the Arizona Coyotes. He currently plays as a left-winger for the St. John’s IceCaps of the American Hockey League (AHL).
