Facing an L.A. judge Thursday stemming from his July arrest, Pelicans center Jaxson Hayes pleaded no contest for resisting arrest and false imprisonment charges. He was facing 10 other charges, but the judge dismissed those.
The 21-year-old former Texas star was arrested July 28 after the LAPD responded to a domestic incident at a home where Hayes was staying.
When officers arrived, cops say Hayes refused to allow them entry before a scuffle ensued. At least one police officer sustained an injury during the kerfuffle.
While cops were trying to arrest the 6’10” player—who was tased during the ordeal—Hayes was heard telling officers he couldn’t breathe. The department is currently conducting a “use of force” investigation.

A no contest plea would still end up with a conviction on his record, and each of his charges carries up to 364 days in jail, a fine, or both.
Hayes will learn his fate on June 14.
