If No Trade, 49ers Likely To Cut Jimmy Garoppolo

There were myriad solutions as to what the San Francisco 49ers could do with quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. However, things got murky following the signal caller’s shoulder surgery earlier this month.

Few, if any, teams desire to trade for a quarterback coming off surgery to his throwing shoulder who’s due to earn $25 million. To further complicate things, reports surfaced that say “Jimmy G” underwent the procedure without first telling the team.

Barring tearing up his $25 million deal and signing a new contract, Garoppolo ain’t going anywhere.

The most likely solution is the Niners will cut him. None of his salary becomes guaranteed until the eve of Week 1, and, because he’s in the final year of his deal, if they do cut him there would only be $1.4 million in dead money.
