Floyd Mayweather Threatens To ‘Slap’ Conor McGregor In Explicit Rant

Floyd Mayweather Jr. has made it clear to Conor McGregor that he won’t ever stand for his antics.

Floyd Mayweather Threatens To ‘Slap’ Conor McGregor In Explicit Rant

McGregor recently obtained a boxing license in the state of California, Mayweather said he is convinced the UFC lightweight champion simply did that in order to make headlines, rather than to prepare himself for a fight with Mayweather.

“Man, I don’t fight in California. What did he get a license in California for,” Mayweather said, per FightHype.com. “I’ma tell you like this, he’s blowing smoke up everybody’s ass,” the undefeated boxing champion added. “He don’t really want to fight because I went to his boss. He don’t really want to fight. He’s just doing that to keep his name alive, you know what I’m saying, to stay relevant. He don’t really want to fight. He’s doing that building his followers, but he’s smart.”

It still appears unlikely that the two will ever actually face each other in the ring, but that hasn’t kept UFC and boxing fans alike from speculating as to how the Mayweather-McGregor feud will end, or the two fighters from trading verbal jabs in the press. McGregor recently said he’d box Mayweather for $100 million, and rapper 50 Cent apparently told UFC president Dana White that Mayweather is “dead serious” about making the fight happen.

Mayweather’s profanity-laced tirade on Periscope this week only seems to have added fuel to the fire:

“I don’t give a (expletive) what night it was, I ain’t never taking no L. I’m (expletive) McGregor up too,” Mayweather said. “Punk-(expletive) McGregor. I’m gonna slap McGregor. I’m gonna slap the (expletive) out of McGregor when I see him.”

The boxer also took aim at McGregor on other social media sites Wednesday night. Mayweather posted an Instagram video of McGregor tapping out to Nate Diaz from their fight in March at UFC 196. The retired boxer also offered $10,000 to the best caption posted about the video.

The video ends with a screenshot of “49-0 vs. Connor [sic] the Notorious Quitter.”

Then on Instagram Live, Mayweather continued mocking the 28-year-old Irishman, calling him “Conor McTapout” and conducting a fake interview with a man who mocked McGregor’s heritage.

The UFC announced in late November that McGregor had vacated his featherweight title after failing to defend the belt, instead opting for a pair of welterweight fights against Diaz in 2016 before claiming the lightweight belt by defeating Eddie Alvarez on Nov. 12.

Nevertheless, McGregor disputes having relinquished the belt, and is preparing to take some time away from the Octagon to be with his girlfriend, with whom he is expecting his first child in May. The Irishman has also demanded a part-ownership stake in the UFC promotion.
