After CM Punk’s very public break up with the WWE — he called them out for steroid use and mistreating their workers — he decided to take a shot at the UFC: the only problem is that Punk never wrestled, fought or trained at a professional level — making plenty believe that this was a stunt by UFC President Dana White.

After a media blackout, Punk’s coach Duke Roufus, from Roufusport Gym in Milwaukee, has decided to post some Instagram shots of the athlete during his first sparring session. Duke has worked with countless stars, including Anthony PettisBen AskrenMatt Mitrione and plenty of others.

As the the caption tells, Punk is sparring with 4-0 welterweight Craig Eckelberg: and “has some things to work on but he showed a lot of potential.”

Punk has no timetable when he will fight in the UFC: he just signed a contract that will guarantee him a match when he is ready — something that has to anger all the MMA guys who have been training their whole life  for a shot.
