Ex-Giants WR Dwayne Harris Signs With Raiders In Free Agency

Veteran wide receiver and return specialist Dwayne Harris signed with the Oakland Raiders in free agency on Monday.

Details of the deal were not immediately announced. Harris, 30, spent the past three seasons with the New York Giants after playing four years with the Dallas Cowboys.

The one-time Pro Bowler (2016) has averaged 26.1 yards per kickoff return in his career and 9.7 yards per punt return. He scored four total touchdowns on special teams.

The 5-foot-11, 206-pound Harris was limited to five games last season before being placed on injured reserve with a foot injury. The Giants — who finished the 2017 season a dreadful 3-13 — also lost many other offensive players to injuries, including Odell Beckham Jr. and Brandon Marshall the same day Harris sustained his injury.

Harris will added much-needed depth to the Raiders receiving corps, as the team traded Cordarrelle Patterson — one of its top wideouts — to the New England Patriots in March. The Raiders — who are set to move to Las Vegas in 2020 — have also added receiver Jordy Nelson this offseason.

Harris was originally drafted in the sixth round (176th overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft by the Cowboys out of East Carolina.

With the Cowboys in 2013, Harris finished second in the NFL with a 30.6 kickoff return average after recording 28 returns for 857 total yards.
