Incognito with the Buffalo Bills in 2015
Former Buffalo Bills offensive lineman Richie Incognito was arrested in Scottsdale, Arizona on Monday for disorderly conduct and for making threats at workers at a funeral home.
Incognito announced in a tweet on Sunday that his father died Saturday, and his body was reportedly being held at the funeral home.
A police report issued Tuesday said 35-year-old Incognito walked into Messinger Pinnacle Peak Mortuary and started creating a “disturbance” by “acting erratically.” The free agent offensive lineman also allegedly “made a gun gesture toward one of the employees” and warned one of the workers that he had a “truck full of guns” sitting in the funeral home’s parking lot. ESPN also quoted employees as saying he “walked around the funeral home, punching caskets and throwing things.”

According to several reports, local authorities ultimately found five weapons in Incognito’s vehicle, all of which were legally owned. ESPN reported that he is set to appear in court in Scottsdale on Aug. 27 for a “pretrial conference.”
This is the second time this year that Incognito has run into trouble with the law. In May, he was detained by police in South Florida after he got into an altercation with a man at a gym.

A four-time Pro Bowler, Incognito originally claimed he would retire following the 2017 season but ultimately requested to be released in order to enter free agency. The offensive guard was also at the center of a locker room bullying and harassment investigation in 2013 that ultimately led the Miami Dolphins — for whom he played at the time — to suspend him three months. Incognito had allegedly threatened then-teammate Jonathan Martin.
Incognito also played with the then-St. Louis Rams from 2005 to 2009. Earlier this year, a Jacksonville Jaguars player accused Incognito of using racial slurs during a playoff game.
