Eloi Vasquez, a 19-year-old freshman soccer player, was reported missing over the weekend. He was last seen leaving the USC chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon in the early morning of Saturday. He wanted to go for a walk, according to his friends.
Soon after, he called one of his friends, claiming that he was lost and completely “screwed,” which was the last time he was heard from. Since then, there has been a massive search for Eloi and a $50,000 reward was offered for the student’s safe return.
Unfortunately, Vasquez was identified as the victim of a car accident on Monday. The freshman soccer player was struck by a car on Interstate 10 freeway at approximately 2:25 am on Saturday morning, Officer Tony Im of the LAPD told Reuters.
The coroner’s later made the connection between the missing person report and the victim. It was hard to identify the body initially because Vasquez left the party without his wallet or identification.

“The family is understandably very distraught and has respectfully asked for privacy,” Officer Im stated in the statement. Since then, various organizations, including the Cal team and the L.A. Galaxy, took to Twitter to offer their condolences.
