With star running back Jamaal Charles sidelined for the rest of the season, the Kansas City Chiefs offense has to be a bit more creative. They did just that on Sunday when they were faced with a fourth and goal from the one-yard line in San Diego.
Head coach Andy Reid put Dontari Poe, a 346 pound nose tackle in the fullback slot. He recieved the hand-off and, rather than simply bowling over the defenders, he dove over the pile into the end zone.
Poe took the title of heaviest scorer away from William “the Refrigerator” Perry, a former Chicago Bears defensive tackle who would also slot in as a fullback in goal line sets. The touchdown helped the Chiefs claim their fourth straight win; Kansas City is now .500 after rebounding from a five game losing streak.
