Due to the coronavirus pandemic, numerous businesses have been forced to make some difficult financial decisions. One of the businesses that is having financial issues is owned by President Donald Trump.
The Trump International Golf Club, Trump’s golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida has requested that Palm Beach County defer some of the course’s $88,338 monthly rent it pays due to lost revenue because of the pandemic. This according to a letter written by the golf course obtained by the Palm Beach Post.
The golf club’s financial director Ed Raymundo said in the letter that the county’s stay-at-home order has greatly impacted the club’s business as the early spring months are typically the busiest the club has each year. In the letter, Raymundo said, “This mandate has resulted in the cancelation of events and forced the Club to close many of its amenities leaving limited services available to our members. In addition, with many New York based members, the Governor’s most recent order requiring individuals traveling from the tri-state area to self-quarantine further hampers our operation. Your direction in this is greatly appreciated.”
The county has already permitted the deferral of rent payments for businesses that rent out public land, but it is unclear if Trump’s club received any of these benefits.
